An image from water series shoot number 8. A bit of an extension from the Table Chair series I know, but I thought it fit well into this series.

All comments welcome.

First of all, I adore the water series.

This is how I read this shot;

"Half Full" of course refers to the popular saying "Is the glass half empty or half full?".
The optimism that the option "half full" stands for is reflected in this photo.
That thin, barely visible jet of water turning into the fountain that we see falling from the table - as if there was much more in the glass than what one would think was possible.
This corresponds great with the optimistic notion of "making the best of it".
What looks as very little can still be worth a whole lot - both literally (as the jet of water in the picture turning into those cascades) and in one's mind (seeing the cup as "half full")

Hello,

I am very glad you like the series, it is something I have been wanting to do for a while. With reference to the Half Full shot this is a beautiful interpretation and I absolutely love it. I have to admit this is not how I looked at the shot during its creation but this is certainly how I will look at it now.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment.

Love your water shots... There is no way all that water came from that little glass....

Impressed with your lighting... such darkness yet all the detail is well lit.. very nice.

Thanks, the phase one H25 back has amazing dynamic range. It can pull out a lot of detail in the blacks where other sensors fail.

Ahhh the secrets out... Here I thought it was some sort of trick lighting, camera settings options, and it's just a great sensor.... Regardless of that it does take lots of skill to get the great shots you've been posting one after another... I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your work so far.

Thanks, by the way the back does not do all the work, you still have to balance lighting as you would with B&W film, but I think this back performs more like film than the 35mms out there at the moment

Like I said it still takes a lot of skill... Or course the right tools make it possible. I know I wouldn't be able to walk into your studio with all your equipment and get similar results.. Part of the reason I admire your work, You have a nice style, dynamic shots, and always well balanced. You show your skill without it taking away from the enjoyability of your art.
